Workout music

January 26, 2009

I have used Spiralfrog.com for downloading music here lately. It’s free music but you have to visit their site every so ofter and renew your account or your music license runs out. It can be a pain but hey, its free. Well after rebuilding my laptop with Windows 7 beta, I lost my license. It took a while but I finally got it renewed.

So now I have my music back and have put together a workout playlist. It’s a combination of 80’s hair metal and christian with some Toby Keith mixed in.

So, what’s your workout mix? Share a sample of your music here ๐Ÿ™‚ What song really motivates you to workout?

Workout equpiment and bad day

January 22, 2009

Well Thursday was not a good day fitness wise. The first couple of days while working out I have been using a stationary bike. The only issue was the seat was not very secure and I felt like I was being beaten silly. So I thought I would use a differnt bike. Well the bike I picked didn’t have the straps for your feet to hold them on the pedels. While pedeling, my foot kept bumping the bars that holds the pedels and then my foot would come off of the pedel. Well after 15 minutes I finally gave up and decided to try an eliptical for the rest of my time. I think I will prefer it but have to get used to using it.

Then lunch was bad also. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I had taken my lunch but my friend asked to go out for some Mexician. Well I have been wanting some fajitas for a while so I gave in. Not a good choice but did it anyway.

After coming home and eating dinner and hanging with the boys before bed, I decided to go for a walk. I knew I needed to do something to make up for the rest of the day. I headed out in the nice cool air and walked for about 20 minutes. Friday I hope will be a better day ๐Ÿ™‚

Workouts

January 21, 2009

I just finished my second day of working out. I went 26 minutes yesterday on a bike and went 30 minutes today. I went at a faster pace than yesterday so my calories burned went up. The question I have is how much did I burn? The bike said this morning that I burned about 70 to 80 calories while Sparkpeople.com site tells me that I burned a little over 300. That is a huge difference. I wonder if I am just not going at a fast enough pace to really burn 300 calories? Any insight on this?

Calorie intake

January 18, 2009

Based on what a lot sources say, at the end of the day I had between 500 to 850 calories left to eat on Friday. Did I do good? Well considering I skipped lunch and just had some pretzels I would say I didn’t do good. I got working on something for someone right at lunch and was able to leave a little early and didn’t get to eat lunch. I know my body needs food at various times during the day to maintain a healthy weight. I guess the good thing is that I wasn’t real hungry but should have eaten something to help keep my body running properly.

I guess I just need to find ways of eating something health quickly. Any ideas?

Nutritional website

January 17, 2009

As I was looking for some nutritional information on some foods I ate at a restruant the other night I ran across a website called thedailyplate.com. This site has not only restruants but different foods like snack foods and such. I haven’t went through the site much but seems to be pretty cool. It also has calorie counters, a forum and a food dairy.

Check it out and come back and post some reviews on it. I will try this weekend to look it over and post my thoughts later.

Nutritional information

January 16, 2009

One of the things I have done this week is to start keeping a closer track on not only what I eat but on what everything I eat has as far as nutrition. Counting calories and fats. Sparkpeople.com has a good on line way of tracking this and for the first two days was very helpful. It has a lot of food already in the system including fast food places and brand name items.

Last night was a boys night out for me and the kids. It was also Colby’s scouts night at Cici’s Pizza where Cici’s donated a portion of the receipts from 6 to 9 pm to the pack so off we went. I didn’t want to eat a lot of pizza like I normally would so I went to the salad bar twice filling up on salad before I got any pizza. I did go and have some pizza after the salad but no where near as much as I normally would.

So after coming home and putting the boys to bed, I logged in to log my food. Well Cici’s didn’t was not already in the system at Sparkpeople.com but they do have a way for you to add foods so off to Cici’s Pizza website I go. Well I like spicy foods, just ask Jim Walton ๐Ÿ˜‰ and Cici’s has a buffalo pizza which is great. But that pizza along with some other pizza that I had was not on their website. I decided this morning to email the company to request more information. To my surprise, not only did I get a reply with the information in it, but one of the items I requested didn’t contain enough information as far as the toppings of the pizza. The person at Cici’s ask me to email them back with the toppings and they would send me the information and within an hour I got that information as well.

So it does pay to be persistent in keeping the information. I can see each day where I do good and where I did bad. I can learn from what I keep information on. I can now also make better decisions on when I go back to Cici’s since I have better information on what their food contains calorie and fat wise. Like they say, Knowing is half the battle ๐Ÿ™‚
